A NEW RESOURCE FOR WORKING MOMS--The CDWBA Working Mothers Committee has created an internet site for our members to share coping strategies. This will be a place to share ideas on balancing work and parenting, resources for great childcare, time-saving service providers (like Dinner Me Quickly), and anything else that the participants can think of to help each other be successful attorneys and great moms. Anyone can read the postings by logging onto the site; in order to post or receive email notifications about new postings, you will need to join the internet group by following the webpage prompts. For further info, contact Alex Streznewski at astrezne@cdphp.com or Valerie Lape Handy at vlape@cdphp.com.

JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST COLON CANCER- Longtime CDWBA member Kim Troisi-Paton, who passed away on August 10, 2007 after a courageous battle with colon cancer, was featured as Miss April in the 2007 "Colondar" of colon cancer survivors, which is published by the Colon Club. Kim participated in creating the calendar, which is available at the website below. While undergoing treatment earlier this year, Kim also organized a large scale fundraiser for the benefit of the Colon Club. The event, which took place in April, raised nearly $30,000 to sponsor Miss April 2008 and to launch a greeting card line on behalf of the Colon Club. Please click on "2007 models," then "April," to see Kim’s photo and bio. Kim was a tremendous individual who contributed her time and talents to the CDWBA for many years. The Colander is available for $15 each, with the proceeds to benefit the Colon Club. The Colon Club seeks to educate people about the fact that 50 is not the magic age when it comes to colon cancer, and anyone can get this disease. More importantly, it is a cancer that can be avoided by screening and early detection. Please consider purchasing a 2008 Colondar or making a donation to the Colon Club in Kim’s memory.http://www.colonclub.com/colondar.html.

THE LEGAL PROJECT NEEDS YOU FOR LEGAL CLINICS - Please consider volunteering once a month (or bi-monthly) to provide pro bono consultations at The Legal Project’s community Legal Clinics. A couple of hours a month of your time in the evening sharing your knowledge of the law will greatly benefit and assist individuals with legal questions. No representation is involved. For more information, contact Lisa Frisch at #435-1770.

WANT TO VOLUNTEER BUT ARE AFRAID YOU DON’T HAVE THE TIME - - The Legal Project has just the pro bono opportunity for you! The Legal Project is in desperate need of attorneys who practice family and/or matrimonial law and are willing to provide consultations to victims of domestic violence ¼not representation!! We’re looking for about an hour of your time to make a difference in the life of a domestic violence victim. If you are interested, please contact Jessica Lennon at #435-1770 or jlennon@legalproject.org.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS?- If you have a change of address, telephone number, or email address, please notify Ava Charne or call #438-5511, so that you continue to receive newsletters, mailings, and emails without interruption from CDWBA and WBASNY.
